Sorry for the wait!

Hey guys! So very sorry that I have made you guys wait for a post again. Still working out the bugs! I have no post today but I do have some news!

My book Phantom Janitor has been accepted by a publishing company! I got and signed the contract last week! :D It is very exciting for me and I can't wait to show you guys the finished book! :D

But for now here is a post for you! :D I posted it on my other blog!

Guys... I have a bad case of writers block right now. And the one thing I can think to do is to write down all of my thoughts on a piece of paper, until I can get something to flow through my head. And since I have a blog with no post for  today, I figured I would write this post.

So recently in my James Patterson class, we talked about the terror every writer knows... The blank page. Every single writer has seen the blank page. And I am definitely looking at one right now. But as he said, its best to write anything.

Just open a document and type what is on your mind! It doesn't have to make sense, it doesn't even have to follow a certain story. Just look at me, my ideas aren't coming SO I AM WRITING A BLOG POST! About my inability to form ideas.

But I am hoping that this post helps. So next time you are deprived of ideas and its driving you crazy, just open a document or grab a notebook and write about something until you get ideas.

Now if you'll excuse me, I just got a cool idea and I am gonna go write! Byeeeeee! :D

Helpful post #2: THIS GETS DARK O.O

Hey guys! Sorry this post took so long to get up, I was having trouble with blogger this week. But now I am here with a post for you to help you. And today I am going to be talking about something that I was recently inspired by in a sort of twisted scary way. It is about how to drive your characters to do things they wouldn't usually do. This is usually a thing in some thrillers, or horror movies.

A good example would be the third episode of the YouTube Red show, Survive the Night, or the Doctor Who Season Four Episode, Midnight. In each situation there is a group of people trapped somewhere and there are some decisions that need to be made and people are so eager to make the decision that they don't even stop to think about what they are about to do.

But how do you get a character to that point?

You give them a choice. A terrible choice.

Scenario: You're trapped in a room with five other people. There is a voice on the intercom that tells you if you want to get out alive you need to kill one of the other people in the room.

Now of course, no one is automatically willing to kill anyone. But what if there was a catch. Like, the room is slowly filling with carbon monoxide and if no one kills anyone, they will all die in the room from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Now there is a sudden push to survive. Kill or be killed. Suddenly the characters are sacrificing their clear conscience to live. That is called survival. And anyone if pushed hard enough can do what they need to do. Their mind however, ends up being permanently changed. It's almost insanity.

You see this method work in movies like Hunger Games and other big titles.
It is an extremely scary thing to be forced into something like that. But sometimes, it is necessary for a character.

Helpful Post: Inspiration from the world around you.

Inspiration: The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Inspiration is a thing. A thing that writers use to write certain situations and characters. Inspiration can be taken from any person, place, or object. It can come from literally anything.

For example, you could be stuck on a scene you've been writing and you need something to keep your plot flowing, when you overhear two kids arguing over a bandana. Immediately you could get inspired to write a number of scenes where your characters get into a fight over a bandana. For example, you could write about your MC and your SC getting into a fight about how MC always wears his/her bandana. Now I know that this is a silly example, but as I said, inspiration can come from anything. Today try and find something that inspires you to write and write about it. It can be from a baseball game and you can write about how the pitcher is an undercover spy and the criminal mastermind is the catcher, it could be from a boat and you can write about how a movie stars life is threatened by "accidents" on a commercial cruise and the only one who can figure it out it the janitor and a wanna-be journalist, or even from a flower and you could write about how this one flower is the key to human survival. I know these are crazy, but they were inspired by me just looking at objects and coming up with some  crazy random story idea.

So today, I would like to ask you to come up with your own story idea, and comment the idea down below! Thanks guys! Happy writing!

Welcome to the new writing blog of the one known as Scribbles!

Hello! It's me Scribbles! :) Your friendly neighborhood kitten from Scribbles Playground! :)

But of course, my name outside my blog, is Vincenzo. And this is a writing blog. I tried starting one of these awhile back for reluctant writers, but I ended up letting the blog die because I was never able to post on it. And that is actually really sad, because I liked helping give advice to people.

In the past year I have gotten a lot more confident in my writing, and now I want to help others become great writers. Whether its giving tips or writing exercises, the purpose of this blog is to help you sharpen your skills so one day others will be reading your books, and love them. Even if you think you are a great writer, some of the skills I am writing about could help you become an even more fantastic writer.

If you want to join, FOLLOW THE BLOG! Then drop a comment with the answer these questions:
What is your name? (first name)
What genre do you like writing?
How long have you been a writer?
What are some random fun facts about you
And what is something you feel like you struggle with as a writer?
